On November 7, 8, and 9, I hosted the live workshop From Your First Soundtrack to Your First Client, and it was an incredible success! With over 70 participants joining us via Zoom, the event provided an intense, immersive experience, packed with more than 6 hours of exclusive content. Tailored for musicians and producers eager to break into the industry, this workshop was designed to equip them with the knowledge and strategies needed to kickstart their careers in film scoring.
Over these 3 days, we explored essential techniques and advanced practices for composing soundtracks, diving into every detail. We discussed arrangements, composition, and musical ingredients that help communicate specific emotions for various genres, such as drama, suspense, comedy, fantasy, and action. We also covered the best virtual instruments for creating authentic sounds, highlighting both free and professional-level options.
In addition to the musical techniques, another major focus was how to structure your career and land your first soundtrack clients online, even without a high-end studio. Our three special guests, Guilherme Senff, Lucas Spolzino, and Alexandre Rocha — former students who are now active in the market — shared real experiences about how they found their first clients, took their first steps in the industry, and turned their love for music into a solid career.
The Film Scoring Immersion was more than just a workshop; it was a transformative live experience designed specifically for Portuguese-speaking musicians. Over the course of three days, participants gained valuable insights into the art and craft of composing for film, as well as strategies for navigating the industry, securing clients, and turning their passion into a professional career. This live workshop empowered aspiring composers to take their careers to the next level and highlighted the incredible potential within the soundtrack industry. With the right knowledge and strategies, anyone can embark on a rewarding career in film scoring.
