Award-winning, innovative, highly technical professional with 10 years of music creation experience, Filipe Leitao is a composer, music producer, and orchestrator based in the United States. He was born and raised in Belém, a metropolis rich in culture, natural beauty and unique music, situated at the gateway to the Amazon river in northern Brazil. Since Filipe was 10 years old when started his musical studies, he has known he could make a difference through music as a powerful and passionate tool.
During his career, beyond teaching music at the Federal University of Para, Brazil, he has produced indie albums of varied styles, arranged and orchestrated works, as well as scored visual media projects, and composed pieces for varied ensembles. After earning a master’s degree in film scoring at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, CA, currently, Filipe is pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Music Composition at the University of Alabama, where he studies with Dr. C. P. First, and is also a Graduate Teaching Assistant.
Filipe's music background is a mix of classical contemporary music, Brazilian music, and film music; his main musical influences are Debussy, Stravinsky, John Williams, Ennio Morricone, Thomas Newman, Hans Zimmer, and Villa-Lobos to name a few.
